Several states have issued alerts about mailings from a company named “Corporate Records Service.” Their solicitation suggests that business entities are required to complete the statement and return it with a fee of $125. Despite the official appearance of this notice, state agencies have confirmed that this is a scam as there is no state requirement to file the statement with Corporate Records Service or pay any fee. The NJ Division of Revenue has issued an alert about the company, in addition to officials in Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Missouri, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.
